PILOT COURSE- FAQ
1) What are the eligibility criteria to join the CPL course?
Educational Qualification: Pass in 10+2(or equivalent) with Mathematics and Physics.
Age: 17 years completed.
Medical: Medical fitness as per DGCA standard.
2) What is the upper age limit to join the aviation industry as a pilot?
Generally, airlines prefer pilots between 18 to 35 years of age, however, if you have flying experience and you are below the age of 60 years, you may still join.
3) Can commerce/arts students join the CPL course?
A student, who has passed 10+2 from a recognized Board with Commerce or Arts subjects, should undergo a bridge course in 10+2 with mathematics and physics from a recognized Board, to become eligible for CPL. ( +2 Maths, Physics exam, you can write through NOIS-for more details contact PTC office).
4) What is the minimum height to join the CPL -program?
No minimum height is prescribed. The individual has to obtain a cockpit check certified to manipulate controls and he should have an unobstructed view of the outside, as required by the aviation medical examiners.
5) What is the eyesight one must have? Are glasses permissible?
As per DGCA Medical standards, eyesight should be correctable to 6/6. Glasses are permissible.
6) What are the job prospects in India?
With the introduction of low-cost airlines in the open skies of India and the Asian Region. There is an anticipated demand for over 10,000 -16,000 qualified pilots in the next 5 years.
7) Can my parents monitor my training progress?
Yes, the PTC will send the performance Report of each student to the parents. Parents and students can Download the PTC app to monitor the records and updates.
8) What is DGCA?
Directorate General of Civil Aviation (D.G.C.A.) is a statutory authority under the Ministry of Civil Aviation that issues certificates of airworthiness and licensing of personnel in India. It is the authority to issue licenses to pilots and has many other roles to oversee issues and the effective functioning of air transportation in India.
9) How is the life of an Airline Pilot?
Legally, pilots are restricted to flying certain hours daily, weekly, monthly, and annually, The Rest period is mandatory for the airline, pilot law, and airlines closely ensure compliance.
10) What is the package of an Airline Pilot?
Approximate 1- 3 lakhs for First officer and 4+ for Captains based on seniority. Along with allowances when flying international routes.
11) What is Type Rating?
A Type rating is an authorization entered on or associated with a pilot’s license and forming part thereof, stating his privileges or limitations about a certain aircraft type. In simple words, if you get type rated on a B737 you cannot fly an A320 or vice versa.
12) How does this Ground Training Course program help in PPL and CPL? Can we need to prepare for the exam ourselves?
The candidate can either choose PPL or CPL. Regardless, he/she has to go through four Ground subjects which are – AIR NAVIGATION, TECHNICAL GENERAL, AIR METEOROLOGY, AIR REGULATIONS, and these 4 subjects will be helpful throughout your entire career.
